Cassy's Story

Cassy was born with ONH/SOD. ONH (optic nerve hypoplasia) is the underdevelopment of the optic nerves. SOD (septo optic dysplasia) is ONH along with the underdevelopment of the pituitary gland and midline anomalies of the brain. Children born with this condition suffer from mild to severe underdevelopment.

Due to the severity of Cassy’s condition, it has rendered her completely blind, hormonal insufficient, cognitive and speech delayed.

For 16 years we have been told there is no treatment for her condition. This in no longer true. Beike Biotech www.beikebiotech.com www.stemcellschina.com  has been successful in treating ONH/SOD children with umbilical cord stem cells (NOT the controversial embryonic stem cells) and had AMAZNG results of restoring vision as well as improving hormonal issues associated with this condition.

Unfortunately, this treatment has not been FDA approved in the United States and could take 7-10 years to be available. Plus, the greatest success is with younger patients. Cassy is 16 and she doesn’t have 7-10 years to wait.

She has already been accepted for treatment. She will be treated in Qingdao,China. She will need 8 or more treatments. The cost of the treatments is $33,000, not including airfare or living expenses for the 35 day  stay in China. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to cover these expenses.

For 16 years we have dreamed and prayed for Cassy. Although treatment does not come with a guarantee, I believe God has opened a door for this to happen. I have great faith that God will help Cassy.

I have had a Bible verse e-mailed to me. After returning home from a medical awareness meeting about this treatment, the day’s verse was Matthew 15:28.

Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

I believe with all my heart that hour is coming. There is nothing I want more than for Cassy to have the chance to see the world and her family around her. We would GREATLY appreciate your donation and prayers.
